Joshua Eastin Block D 11/28/2018 Open-Note Research Article Depiction of 'First Thanksgiving' Similar to the legend of the American Cowboy the fantasy of the first Thanksgiving, often mistaken as fact, is far from the truth. The myth persisted through modern day due to a combination of cultural tradition, political agenda, and corporate influence. There are aspect of the legend which are true; there was a harvest celebration in Plymouth in the 1620’s in which indians from the Wampanoag tribe attended, and it is possible, although unlikely, that turkey was served during the feast. However, this is where the truth deviates from the common story. While there was a celebration the reason for it was not to give thanks, instead it was to celebrate a successful harvest. Procrastination comes from the Latin word 'procrastinatio' which has similar meaning. While the cause of procrastination in a psychology isn't fully understood it is believed that it stems primarily from the misjudgment on how much can be done in an allotted amount of time. This can lead to serious consequences such as staying awake until 4:00 a.m. studying for a math exam and then preparing for the history exam in the 2 hours given between exams. Procrastination

Summary: 12 years a slave Manhola Dargis from the New York times states in his review that 12 years a slave is an excellent example of how awful slavery in America really was. Manhola gives further examples of how the movie shows a lack of morality; his examples of immoral actions include: Solomon capture, his work in the various plantations, and the treatment of his fellow slaves. Manhola finds these topics extremely powerful and uncomfortable and difficult to show in theaters but he points to the exceptional work of the creators of the movies as to how it accomplishes its goal. Manhola elaborates on this by saying "it reminds you how infrequently stories about slavery have been told on the big screen" showing how little this story is told and even more rare to be told to such a high standard.
